Uber, Lyft driver accused of stalking 14-year-old girl in N.J.
(reported by NJ.com – May 26 2017)
A Jersey City man who was working as both an Uber and Lyft driver has been charged with stalking a 14-year-old girl in Monmouth County.
Shyam Gurung, 39, was arrested last week after a witness got the license plate of the man’s vehicle, which was reported as suspicious, according to a statement posted by police on Facebook.
Detectives arrested and charged him with stalking, police said. The man was accused of trying to talk to the 14-year-old in two separate incidents while she was walking in the town.
“Our detectives were made aware of the incident and immediately conducted an investigation,” the statement said.
The man had no apparent ties to Hazlet, police said, but had been working in the area as an Uber and Lyft driver.
He was later released pending a hearing.
