Man Accused of Money Laundering, Drug Possession in Union City

A 38-year-old California man was arrested for the possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and money laundering in Union City.
Roberto Castillo, of Chula Vista, California, was arrested at approximately 6:40 p.m. after a search of his vehicle and a temporary residence in Union City led to the recovery of approximately 400 grams of cocaine and more than $47,000 in United States currency.
The street value of the total quantity of narcotics seized is approximately $20,000.
Castillo was charged with the following: Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine in a quantity of five ounces or more in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-5b; Possession with Intent to Distribute
Cocaine while within 1000 feet of a school in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-7a; and Money Laundering in violation of N.J.S. 2C:21-25a.
The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
