Englewood Woman Charged With Aiding Fugitive In Route 17 Burglary Ring
As reported by Paramus Daily Voice – Mar 1, 2017
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. – An Englewood woman helped a fugitive avoid law enforcement agencies who were pursuing him, said authorities who charged her with hindering arrest and obstruction of justice.
Jazmine C. Cole, 28, of William Street, was with Jamar Travis when he was taken into custody in New York City early last month by a task force of law enforcement officers from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI, and the Englewood, Paramus and Saddle River police departments, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said Wednesday.
Travis was wanted for what Grewal said was his participation in a burglary ring that committed dozens of residential break-ins in towns along the Route 17 corridor.
Four other men were arrested and charged in the spree: Walter Smith, Rashad Black, Tahref Folkes and Javon Barlow, the prosecutor said.
While a fugitive from justice, Travis “was being provided material support by [Cole] in an effort to evade capture by law enforcement,” Grewal said.
“The investigation ultimately revealed that Travis fled the state…in part due to the assistance rendered by Cole,” he added.
