A man was arrested after detectives suspected he was involved with distributing Oxycodone, a prescription opioid, in large quantities every week, police said.
George Woerner, 41, was arrested at a Hoover Avenue home Tuesday morning after Berkeley and Lacey police executed a court-authorized, no-knock warrant at the residence, which is in the Bayville section of town, Berkeley Police Chief Karin DiMichele said in a statement. Police seized $10,000 hidden in the home and a “large quantity” of prescription pills.
Substances suspected to be anabolic steroids were also in the residence, along with drug paraphernalia, DiMichele said.
Woerner was charged with possession of Oxycodone, possession of Oxycodone with the intent to distribute and possession of anabolic steroids, DiMichele said. Woerner was released with an order to appear to in court, pursuant to the Bail Reform Act.
Civilians who suspected drug deals in the area led police to apprehend Woerner, DiMichele said. After an extended investigation in which authorities suspected Woerner distributed about 500 doses of Oxycodone a week, they moved in to arrest him.
