Hamilton Township police charge man in 2 burglaries

Police arrested a 19-year-old Mays Landing man after he broke into a car Wednesday, and he also was involved in a residential burglary last month, police said.
Just before 1 p.m., police responded to the Festival Mall parking lot for a report of a car burglary. Elijah Thomas forced down a partially open window on a parked car, unlocked it and removed $5 and a pair of sunglasses, police said.
Thomas was interviewed about the car burglary and an unrelated residential burglary April 10 on Cologne Avenue, when a front door was forced open and jewelry, electronics and sports memorabilia were stolen, police said.
Authorities charged Thomas with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the motor vehicle burglary, and charged him with burglary, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the April residential burglary.
He was released on a summons, police said.
