Anthony Franklin, 20, and Alterik T. Ellis, 24, of Jersey City, were arrested following a routine motor vehicle stop that netted drugs and prescription pills.
Franklin and Ellis were charged with possession of Endocet pills with intent to distribute and marijuana offenses.
Both Franklin and Ellis were released and FREE TO GO under NJ Bail Reform after the Arnold Foundation’s “Pretrial Risk Assessment” tool determined that they were not a danger to the community or a flight risk and therefore should not be subject to any accountable release – just a “promise” to appear.

2 face drug charges after pot, painkiller bust in Jersey City
(reported by NJ.com – Aug 28 2017)
Two Jersey City men are facing marijuana and prescription painkiller charges following a motor vehicle stop by Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office investigators conducting surveillance on Ocean Avenue last week.
Anthony Franklin, 20, of Oak Street, and Alterik T. Ellis, 24, of Lexington Avenue, were arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of Endocet pills with intent to distribute and marijuana offenses, the criminal complaint says.
Franklin was also charged with hindering his own apprehension by giving a fake name and for allegedly swallowing two pills, according to the complaint.
At 3:15 p.m. that day, officers watched as a man approached the driver’s side of a van near Bidwell Avenue and made an apparent drug transaction. The vehicle drove away and was stopped at Union Street and Martin Luther King Drive, according to the complaint.
Officers approaching the van smelled marijuana and Ellis, the driver, got out and was taken into custody. Ten bags of suspected pot were found in a compartment below the radio, the complaint says.
One Endocet pill was found on the car floor next to Franklin, who had seven more Endocet pills in his clenched hand. He is believed to have swallowed two more, the complaint states.
During a search, Ellis was found to have 19 Endocet pills and a bag of marijuana in his crotch area, the complaint says.
Both men made their first court appearances on the charges Thursday in Criminal Justice Reform Court in Jersey City and were ordered released with conditions of supervision pending trial.
