Man who ran from cop had backpack full of pot, police say

A man who ran from police following a traffic stop was charged with drug distribution and resisting charges, township police said.
Officer Roy Pierson stopped a car on Bettinger Lane in Williamstown around 10:30 p.m. May 3.
A passenger in the car, Robert Manel, 18, of Huber Avenue, Williamstown, ran from the vehicle, police said.
After a foot chase, Pierson apprehended Manel. In his possession was a backpack containing 43 individually wrapped bags containing marijuana, along with $216 in cash, police said.
Manel was charged with possession and distribution of marijuana, resisting arrest and obstruction.
He was processed and released pending a court appearance.
