DEFENDANT ARRESTED FOR BURGLARIZING THE SAME BUSINESS IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS

PRESS RELEASE FROM SOMERSET COUNTY PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE:

SOMERVILLE, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson and Franklin Township Chief of Police Lawrence W. Roberts announced the arrest of Amadou Ba, age 30, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Prosecutor Robertson states that on May 3, 2017, at 4:10 a.m. the Franklin Township Police Department received an activated burglar alarm at a Route 27 business in the Princeton section of Franklin Township. Upon arrival of the initial officer, he observed a male, later identified as Amadou Ba standing inside the business. The officer ordered Ba to come outside so they could speak. Defendant Ba proceeded to hide out of view of the officer. When back-up officers arrived, they made entry into the business and found defendant Ba hiding under a truck. Defendant Ba was in possession of cash from the register as well as two sets of keys for vehicles that were being worked on in the business. It was determined that defendant Ba made entry through a window that he removed. Once inside he removed the alarm panel off the wall in an attempt to silence it.

Defendant Ba was arrested and charged with 3 rd degree, burglary, criminal mischief and theft, both disorderly persons offenses. Defendant Ba was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending his 1st appearance. After his court appearance in the afternoon defendant Ba was released from custody.

Prosecutor Robertson states that on May 4, 2017, at 1:19 a.m. the Franklin Township Police Department received a 9-1- 1 call reporting a suspicious person at the same Route 27 business. The officers that handled the call on May 3 rd responded to this call. Upon arrival, they immediately saw defendant Ba through a window. Upon making eye contact with officers, he fled to the rear of the business. The manager of the business was contacted and responded with the key. Upon making entry, the officers found defendant Ba seated in the rear office. He was taken into custody without incident.

Defendant Ba was charged with 3rd degree,burglary, and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
