(reported by the Trentonian May 12 2107)
A 19-year-old city man was arrested in connection with the shooting of a city toddler.
On Friday Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn said that Goss turned himself in to police in connection with the shooting.
Varn said the toddler was walking with his father in the area the 100 block of Exton Avenue around 8:00 p.m. when they were approached by several people and shots were fired.
According to Varn, the shooting appears to be some kind of neighborhood dispute. The toddler suffered a through and through gunshot wound and was admitted to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is listed in stable condition.
Varn said that the Shooting Response Team was tasked with the investigation and as a result a warrant was issued for Tah’von Goss. The 19-year-old turned himself in at Trenton Police
Headquarters around 11 a.m. on Friday. Goss is no stranger to arrests, however. The 19-year-old was arrested on April 3 in connection with a February 19 strong-arm robbery of the Roadrunner Gas Station in the 400 Block of Brunswick Avenue at 11 p.m. In that incident, it is alleged that Goss was part of a group of three men who approached the 49-year-old victim and punched him in the head and chest and taking off with his cell phone and cash.
Thursday’s shooting is being investigated by Janaye Jones of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office under the supervision of Det. Sgt. Nelson Cartegena of the Shooting Response Team. Varn said police anticipate that more arrests are forthcoming.
